Product Overview

Citric acid monohydrate contains approximately 8.6% water of crystallisation. It dissolves readily in cold water and resists moisture uptake in ordinary storage, which makes it the mainstream choice for cost-sensitive aqueous systems such as beverages, liquid condiments and water treatment. It is the largest-volume citric acid grade on the market.

Selection and Handling Notes

• Contains approximately 8.6% water of crystallisation, dissolves readily in cold water and resists caking, so storage requirements are less demanding than for the anhydrous grade.
• Not suitable for fully anhydrous dry systems, where the bound water alters system water activity.
• Above roughly 70-78 deg C the monohydrate loses its water of crystallisation and converts to the anhydrous form.
