Product Overview

Calcium chloride dihydrate is a white, odourless salt with a slightly bitter taste. It dissolves readily in water with a notable exothermic effect and is strongly hygroscopic. It is the principal raw material for de-icing, road dust control, desiccant applications and food processing firming agents (E509). Supplied in prill and flake forms.

Selection and Handling Notes

• Dissolution is notably exothermic; add gradually with agitation to avoid localised overheating.
• Highly hygroscopic: reseal after opening and store in a dry place.
• Common assay grades are 74% and 94%, which suit different applications and price levels. Please state the intended use when enquiring.
