Tricalcium citrate tetrahydrate (E333) is an organic calcium source containing approximately 21% calcium. Compared with calcium carbonate it shows better solubility under acidic conditions and is gentler on the stomach, making it a common choice for tablets, dairy products and fortified beverages.

Selection and Handling Notes

• Calcium content is lower than calcium carbonate; calculate additions on an elemental calcium basis.
• Fine particle size and good flow properties suit direct compression tableting.
